Abstract Description : Online schools can be a safe haven for students with diverse gender and sexuality identities, due to our flexible and potentially anonymous environment. Want to be an ally, but feel like things keep changing? Not sure how to meet students where they are? Wondering how to update information systems to best reflect student and staff needs? This presentation will share best practices for supporting our LGBTQ+ students, focusing on trans and nonbinary students who often deal with significant bullying and unnecessary stress caused by information systems that dead name or misgender students. After the short presentation, this session will serve as an open space to ask whatever questions you have on this topic and brainstorm answers together.
