Abstract Description :

During this session, participants will be asked to view family engagement through a lens of privilege and to challenge their own assumptions and biases regarding unengaged families.  Attendees will be asked to become active participants in the conversations surrounding family engagement as we strive to become leaders in engaging not only our students but also our families.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of this session, participants will be able to demonstrate empathy in making connections with unengaged families.
  • At the end of this session, participants will be able to list ways in which they can connect with families that they had not previously considered.
