Who Cares? Importance of Caring School Leadership in the Online School

Actor Jackie Chan has stated, “Sometimes it takes only one act of kindness and caring to change a person’s life.” Psychological Capital (PsyCap) is comprised of one's hope, efficacy, resilience, and optimism. PsyCap is positively associated with job satisfaction, work performance, and overall well-being. Leadership has been found to be an antecedent of PsyCap. Caring school leadership is a relatively newer construct that focuses on the leader’s intent to demonstrate care through genuine regard for the needs, interests, and overall well-being of faculty. This talk will unpack these concepts and discuss the degree to which caring school leadership, can influence the psychological capital of teachers within online schools.
