Principal Village High School Colorado Springs, CO, United States
Abstract Description : High school in America is in desperate need of a reboot. There are not many folks satisfied with the current state, but it is a deeply entrenched system that is difficult to change. But there are some models that are trying to redefine the experience for students (and staff) in order to be more thoughtful and engaging. This session will explore the founding & growth of Village High School in Colorado Springs, a transformational hybrid program that was founded ten years ago for 25 students and four part-time teachers, and has grown to a student population of over 530 and a faculty/staff of nearly 60.
The session will explore the way change took place at the school, district, and community level to allow for this new model and will share some of the lessons learned.
If someone was doing a search for your session in the program what 5 words might they use to search for and find your session.: Startup, hybrid, community, innovation, partners
