Most directors and principals would say training, but before training comes hiring. The art of hiring goes beyond merely filling positions. It requires a strategic and thorough approach for finding the right staff for both the role and the school culture. Hiring well can actually minimize training time and ultimately eliminate the very unpleasant and time-consuming task of terminating a teacher or staff member. But hiring is only the beginning. A solid onboarding plan is crucial in reducing turnover and ensuring long-term success. This session will provide information on sound hiring practices and provide tips and tools for succes.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to craft and conduct an interview process that ensures sound and equitable practices and assists in skill development around the interviewing and hiring processes.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to design an onboarding process to teach expectations and habits in a way that will prevent turn over and empower new hires to use and develop knowledge and skills that contribute to the success of your school.
