Abstract Description : Authorizers can play a pivotal role in creating an environment where innovation is welcomed and encouraged. Like charters, we want authorizers to challenge the status quo and serve as change agents and forces for quality. Come engage and learn how one of the nation's leading authorizers, The Ohio Council of Community Schools (OCCS) is setting the standard through its student-centered mission that is steadily improving the performance for the 30,000 students attending the schools they authorize. They'll share how they partnered with national organizations like DLC, NAPCS and The National Charter Schools Institute to advocate and expand on-line learning through partnerships with governing boards, stakeholders and policymakers.
