Abstract Description : While servant leadership has held much clout in education for nearly the past 50 years, new evidence suggests that authenticity is rapidly becoming one of the greatest deciding factors surrounding vested interest for students in their education. In Embodying Authentic Leadership for Transformative Purposes in the Classroom, we will explore elements of the authentic leadership style, as well as how to cultivate it, and how this might benefit overall engagement in the classroom. This table talk will explore barriers to authenticity and transformative practices to break through these. This session will be applicable to administrators, school leaders, educators, and all other staff members.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to identify the key components of authentic leadership, defining what this leadership style entails and how it differs from other styles.
At the end of this session, participants will explore common pitfalls encountered by others with regards to authenticity in the online educational environment and discuss how to surmount those challenges. They will be provided with a survey to self-assess for authentic leadership qualities.
