Paving the Way: How Effective Virtual Assessment Fuels a Student-Centered K-12 Future

This session explores the pivotal role of high-stakes virtual assessments in shaping a more distributed and student-centered K-12 educational ecosystem. By addressing the immediate challenges associated with these summative tests—such as equity, accessibility, validity, and reliability—we can lay the foundation for an educational future where learning is personalized, flexible, and accessible anytime and anywhere. Based on a series of briefs and reports co-produced by The Learning Accelerator and DLC, participants will leave with a new understanding of the urgent challenges surrounding assessment as well as a set of resources to inform their work.

  • After this session, participants will be able to: Understand the urgent issues surrounding current virtual assessment practices and their impact on students, especially those in virtual and hybrid learning environments.
  • After this session, participants will be able to: Explore how solving these challenges today can accelerate the transition toward a distributed education system that prioritizes student needs and personalized learning paths.
