The Secret Sauce of Online Courses: Getting the Mix of Ingredients Just Right so Students Stay Engaged from Start to Finish

Getting the recipe right for your online course can be tricky. This workshop will feature two veteran online curriculum “chefs” — one STEM chef and one Humanities chef — who have worked for years to take their online pedagogy to the next level. Learn practical, actionable tips on how to get the mix just right so your courses make a lasting impression. Topics include improving cognitive clarity; video pedagogy; off-computer experiences; engaging multiple senses; play, games, and interactives; and teacher relationship and authenticity. Rookies just starting and veterans looking to hone their craft will walk away with ingredients they can stir into their online courses right away.

  • At the end of this session, participants will be able to describe the ingredients that make an online course engaging and impactful.
  • At the end of this session, participants will be able to plan a wide variety of multi-sensory learning experiences for students in their online courses.
