Natalie Helzer began her educational career in 2012 after earning a bachelor's in history and secondary education and has been teaching secondary social studies at Iowa Connections Academy since 2014, currently focusing on American Government, Economics, and advising 12th graders. She advanced professionally, becoming a Lead Teacher in 2016 and later an Engagement Specialist in 2023, where she leads initiatives to improve student engagement and retention including planning in person and virutal school events.
