Getting Back to Our Why Through Local Accountability

Abstract Description : In an educational environment mired with accountability systems that fail to match the hopes and dreams of our communities, there is a need for educational entities to embrace more comprehensive methods for measuring success and setting improvement priorities.  The marriage of benefits-based accountability and the concept of local accountability allows schools and school districts the opportunity to provide stakeholders with the information they desire while also allowing teachers the opportunity to get back to their 'Why?'  It is no secret that when people are operating in their passion area, the entire system is energized.  And for schools that energy creates an infinitely better environment for improving student achievement than with a test score alone.  Welcome to our story!
