Emi advocates for student-centered learning pedagogies and practices to better equip children with future-ready skills and competencies. Since 2016, she has been promoting critical discussions on the future of education. In July 2020, Emi released a book titled "The New Elite - What Competencies Do We Want to Nurture for Children to Survive the Chaotic Era?". Currently, Emi serves as a member of the UNESCO Japan Committee.
Emi holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Keio University, and an MBA and MA in international business from the University of Pennsylvania.
