Abstract Description :

This presentation explores an innovative approach to integrating community service into online elementary education through the collaboration of a high school Math Honor Society. The initiative aims to enhance students' academic skills and foster a sense of community and civic responsibility among high school students. The session will provide an overview of the program, its implementation, and its impact on elementary and high school students.

Learning Objectives:

  • To provide a framework for other institutions to implement similar programs and showcase the role of high school Honor Societies in providing academic support and mentorship.
  • Demonstrate how collaboration between upper and lower school leadership at Laurel Springs effectively led to a sustainable community service model. Discuss the benefits of this collaboration for elementary and high school students.
  • Provide a framework of next steps and lessons learned that can be used by other online institutions planning to implement or currently implementing similar programs.
