You teach reading virtually, but how well do you know the needs of your students? Are you confident that you truly know their ability? Imagine my surprise, when in my first year of providing tiered interventions, I saw the true ability of a tenth-grade student with encoding and decoding issues who had developed coping strategies to get by. I was scared and sick to my stomach. Could I really help this student? The tiers turned into tears, late nights, and endless research. I learned I could, and so can you! In this session, we will learn how we can screen, progress monitor, and provide targeted and small group interventions to struggling readers to give them the confidence they need to re-engage, grow, and succeed.
